Lately, many changes are being introduced into the education system, and many students have relied on online education during the pandemic, which raises the question of the future of online education in India.

The global coronavirus pandemic and consecutive lockdowns have impacted the Indian education system. Since people were stuck inside their houses for months, students and children were deprived of knowledge and studies – it all turned out to be disastrous. Therefore, finding an alternative was crucial – and online education came to the rescue.

Online learning is the growing face of the Indian education system. Since the New Education Policy (NEP) came in 2020, many changes have been made in the education system, including online education.

According to UNESCO, since the outbreak of COVID-19 began, over 1.3 billion students all around the globe have been affected by the closure of schools and universities. Over 60 million teachers and university lecturers are no longer held in the classroom.

In such a situation, e-education is the best and the only option. University faculties set up accounts on online video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Skype, Google Classroom, and Meet, among others, to engage with students.

This new media holds out the possibility of on-demand access to the content at any given time or digital platform, but this becomes challenging for the administration and the students. Digital media today is the blend between classical and conventional learning methods like books and notebooks and digital software like eBooks and PDFs.

Another point to be noted is that online education has fallen to the most basic level due to the pandemic in schools and colleges. Students with long-distance commutes find it a little more flexible and easier option as education reaches them and not vice versa.

Online education is a good option for working groups who wish to continue their education or learn something new. It is more flexible, can adjust to their existing schedules, and can complete the assignments without sacrificing hours from their existing jobs or important chores of their household.

Compared to the expenses of colleges, online education is more affordable and is helpful for aspirants who wish to go to college but can’t. Also, they can continue earning while gaining the education they need.
